Capitals are eyeing Mara Hoffman, Mara Hoffman, a bit of everything for a stretch run
Capitals GM George McPhee is looking for a bit more offense, more creativity and a bit better balance for the team.
That’s what the Caps are looking for.
Hoffmans role is limited and the Caps have been trying to get her more involved this season.
“It’s definitely something that we’re looking at,” McPhene said Thursday.
“But we’re also looking at different things that could work with her, too.”
There’s a possibility the Capitals could start with two top-six forwards on the top power play unit, but that might be more likely for now.
“We haven’t made any decisions yet,” McHorton said.
“I think there’s a lot of room for her, so it’s just going to come down to what fits her best.”
She has a contract through next season and the cap hit is $6.75 million.
Hoffs work well with McPhees goalies.
She’s also an effective playmaker with an excellent shot.
She had 11 goals and 27 assists in 75 games with the Flyers last season.
The Capitals are hoping for more out of Hoffmans offensive game.
“If she gets some more opportunities to make some more plays for us, it would be great,” McBeth said.
