The Sharks aren’t ready to trade defenseman Justin Braun, but that doesn’t mean they can’t consider moving up to draft him in the upcoming NHL draft, a league source told NHL.com.
In the same vein, the Sharks are keeping tabs on a player who could be a first-round pick in this year’s draft.
According to a league official, Braun’s name is on the Sharks’ radar.
Braun, 19, is coming off a breakout season for the University of North Dakota, recording 26 goals and 56 assists in 79 games.
Braun’s best season was with the Fargo Stampede of the United States Hockey League, where he scored 31 goals and 51 assists in 68 games.
If Braun is traded, it would make sense for the Sharks to make a move up the draft board to acquire the draft rights to the prospect, according to the league source.
Braun is listed at 6-foot-2, 201 pounds.
